Hi @ssyx1234

It's great to hear that you're interested in our Art Therapy degree!

You can find more information on modules, entry requirements and fees here - https://www.chester.ac.uk/study/course-search/art-therapy-ma/. Please note, applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate they can meet the following English language criteria for this programme:

IELTS 6.5 overall (no less than 6.0 in any band).

TOEFL at 95 overall (min 22 in all areas).

If you have any specific questions about the course we’d recommend reaching out to Melissa King, Senior Lecturer for this course - [email protected]. For any questions regarding your application please contact [email protected].

We asked a current Art Therapy student to provide some information on studying at Chester. This is what Imogen had to say:
"Hi! In my experience there are students in my cohort from a variety of professional backgrounds, such as nursing, teaching and Psychology. It is not essential to have completed an art degree, any relevant experience of art making is likely to be helpful for this course. Whilst I have found the course to be quite intensive at times, I have found that the assignments are spread out well over the duration of the course and there is lots of support from lecturers. The timetable can vary depending on what stage of the course you’re at and if you’re studying full-time or part-time. In-person teaching can vary from 1-2 days per week and you will also attend placement for some of the duration on top of university days, however there are breaks from teaching in between trimesters! At the moment, placement for full-time students is 2 days per week for 1 year and for part-time it is 1 day per week for 2 years. The programme staff are open to student’s feedback about the course, so it is possible that some changes have been made for future cohorts. In terms of funding I decided to save up for my tuitions fees and worked part-time alongside my studies."

We hope this helps, but if you have any further questions we'd be happy to help! 🙂

Best wishes,
Becky
