Tuition fees/loans - 2028 limit

Hello,
My daughter will be due to start university in September 2027. She is eligible for Home fees and for a tuition loan (Irish/EU citizen living in France). My question is whether this eligibility is for the length of the whole course if she starts prior to January 2028? Or does her eligibility end in January 2028, putting her in the International fees bracket for the remaining years of her degree?
Thanks

Hi there. We don't decide how whether the student will be charged home fees or international fees, this would be the university.

Student finances eligibility can change, so it would be best looking into this nearer the time.

Based on our current criteria, Irish nationals living in the EEA for 3 years prior to the beginning of the Academic Year can apply for a Tuition Fee only loan from SFE.

To be eligible for home funding (Maintenance Loan and Tuition Fees), they need to be living in the UK/ UK islands for 3 years prior to the start of the course, or be working continuously throughout their studies to apply as a migrant worker. Thanks, Leah.

Thanks, but that wasn't my question, sorry if it wasn't clear. My question was whether the fee would be constant throughout the course (if she is still deemed eligible for home fees by the relevant uni at her starting date)?

Hi there,

You would need to speak to the university to see if they would change her from a home student to an international student as they make the decision. If they said she was a home student I do not see them changing this in further academic years but it would be there decision.

Thanks, Drew
