Is there anyone who currently studies midwifery at UEL or ARU? If so, I'd be interested to know what your current timetable looks like and how many days a week you are required to attend university?
Hi there,
Thank you for your patience ☺️
I have contacted the Midwifery team and they have provided an example of next years timetable for the entire year. Please note: This is only a guideline and may be subject to change.
Week 1 (This may be scheduled from Monday 15 September 2024): Welcome Week Week 2 – 11: Theory Week 12 – 19: Practice (Week 15 & 16: Holidays) Week 20 – 24: Theory Week 25 – 26: Practice Week 27 – 28: Holidays Week 29 – 32: Practice Week 33 – 35: Theory (Week 35 & 36: Holidays) Week 36 – 38: Practice Week 39 – 42: Theory Week 43 – 45: Practice Week 46 – 49: Catch up time Week 50 – 52: Holiday
In terms of practice, this will always be 37.5hrs per week and will vary between long shifts (12-13hrs) and short shifts (8hrs).
As for the number of days on campus: This will vary in terms of what module is being delivered, and so can range anywhere from 4 days per week to 2. It is extremely unlikely that any student will be on campus 5 days per week. Classes can vary from 8am – 4pm but this can be subject to change.

Thanks so much, that’s so helpful! I take it the days on campus aren’t set so can change each week? So I wouldn’t know if I’d be in every Monday, Tuesday for example? Xx

Hi there,
The team have said once the timetable is set, the days won’t change for the entire year, but they will be different days each week.

Thanks for your response. Sorry I’ve misunderstood, do you mean that the days required on campus would stay the same for the year or they would be different each week?

Hi there,
No problem - Once the timetable is set, the scheduled sessions won't change but it won't be the same days every week. On some weeks it may be a Monday and Friday, but the following week it may be Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The number of days on campus will be different each week but you will know those days when the timetable is published 😊
