Best Undergraduate course for Marketing?

Hi,

I'm an L6 student and in preparation for my applications next year, I'm trying to find the best universities I could apply to.

As far as I know, Oxbridge does not offer any undergraduate courses for Marketing.

I am willing to relocate, so long as there is a university which is good enough to make me reasonably do so.

My current options are: University of Leeds, University of Durham, University of Lancaster. University of Manchester and is also a possibility but it's more management oriented, so I'd like to avoid it. Manchester Metropolitan University is also an option.

P. S: I am aware Marketing does not need a heavy education profile, and I likely not going to go University for several reasons but it's good to have backups.

P. S. S: this is my first post so be easy with me 😅

Have you looked at which courses offer CIM exemptions?

Hi @Annoying Prompt

It's great to hear that Manchester Met is one of your options for studying Marketing!

Our BA (Hons) Marketing course is located in our Triple Accredited Business School and is CIM accredited, meaning you can gain CIM exemptions while you study. There's also the opportunity to undertake a study abroad or placement year while on the course which can help strengthen your employability after you graduate!

Manchester's a great place to live and study - I highly recommend coming along to our next open day on 23rd November so you have the chance to look around the campus and talk to our tutors and ambassadors to find out more about what it's like to study at Man Met.

If you can't make the open day then you can chat to our student ambassadors. Gashin is one of our Marketing students who I'm sure will happily answer any questions you might have about the course 🙂

I'm planning to start doing my CIM courses now, so that by the time I leave College, I'll (hopefully) have a Level 6 CIM funded by my part-time & credits. Then, if university does not end up being the route I would like to go down(which is quite likely, as I'm either going straight into employment or doing a degree apprenticeship). So, getting an exemption isn't really appropriate for me

Hello @Annoying Prompt

Thank you for considering Lancaster University to study Marketing at! Our A-level requirements for BSc Marketing for 2025 entry are ABB, this is a three year course which displays a wide variety of compulsory and optional modules which can be seen here , however, please remember that these modules are not guaranteed every year.

We were regarded as a top 10 university in the UK to study Marketing at by The Complete University Guide 2025 as well as also being in the top 10 for graduate prospects for Marketing and PR by The Guardian 2025, so you can be certain that you will be getting a great hands-on education, knowing that we are valued by future employers.

Lancaster is a bit different to other universities. On your BSc Marketing course, we want you to tailor your course how you please, meaning that in your first year you will also study two further subjects from other departments, known as 'minors'. These can be creative modules, more business modules or even a language offered here at the university.

If you fancy a bit of a longer time being a student, our four-year degree may be an option for you! This means that your third year would be either a year abroad or a year in industry, which can really set you apart when applying for job roles after graduation.

As someone who has studied at Lancaster for four years now, I can safely say that I love it here! Our campus is really special and always has something going on, from the ample amount of college bars, to the variety of cafe's and restaurants showcasing cuisines from across the globe, there will be something for you!

Admittedly, we are on the smaller side of cities compared to others in the UK but it means that everything is a lot more accessible and also creates a greater sense of community too. However, if you do yearn for that bigger city feel, we are lucky that we are just a short train journey from the UK's major cities, including Liverpool and Manchester (1hr train) and York and Edinburgh (2.5 hours) as well as being really close to the Lake District if you prefer the quieter side of life.

I hope that has provided some more insight, please feel free to ask any further questions, we would love to help out!

Taylor (Lancaster Uni Student Ambassador).

First off, welcome to the journey of university applications. It's great that you’re thinking ahead! You're absolutely right that Oxbridge doesn’t offer undergraduate Marketing degrees, but your current options are solid, especially Leeds, Durham, and Lancaster, which have strong business schools. If you're open to relocation, have you considered Warwick, Bath, or Strathclyde? They have highly regarded Marketing programs and strong industry links. That said, since you’re unsure about committing to university, you might want to explore online alternatives like Google’s Digital Marketing & E-commerce Certificate, HubSpot Academy, or CIM-accredited short courses. Many marketing pros build stellar careers through experience, networking, and self-learning, so a degree isn’t the only route! If you do apply, pick a uni that offers strong placement years or industry connections. Either way, you’re on the right track by planning ahead!
