Enough of a range?

My daughter is getting ready to submit her UCAS form for Maths or maths with Spanish and is predicted A* in Maths, Spanish and Computer science and a B in f maths. She is thinking to apply to Birmingham, York, Sheffield, Nottingham and undecided on the last one. The lowest likely offer from these is AAB and we are wondering if she should have any lower ones but then part of me thinks she needs to get high grades to be able to handle a maths degree anyhow so what’s the point? Any thoughts welcome.

If your daughter is predicted three A* - especially with such a range of subjects - she should be fine! They will also take into account the difficulty of a subject like further maths, and a B is a great grade for something so advanced. Also if she does four they will still do an offer of three grades, e.g. AAB so if she happens to get A*A*BB overall she can ignore the other B (although they will probably specify she needs an A in maths).

Hello @Bumblebetty1234,

As @offshore-cauldro has mentioned, with those predicted grades she will not have any problems. Having a "safe" choice is not a bad idea either in the event that things go wrong for whatever reason.

All the best,
Abian.
