ABB predicted YEAR 13

I got ABB predicted so far, and my main choices to apply to law is at:
Uni of Birmingham - AAA
Uni Of Leicester: ABB
Uni of Nottingham: AAA
Since my predicted is lower I'm not sure if I should apply.

Also I'm trying to see if I can get a contextual offer for those but my family members have gone to university, does that put me at a disadvantage?

Have you checked what the relevant factors are for getting a contextual offer at each of those unis?

Hey! I am in the same situation as you with predictions AAC and A in EPQ
best advice I would say is consider alternatives unis, I think Sheffield is the best because they would most likely take you in with ABB predictions and its a top RG I would also consider Liverpool and Exeter as well as York
Second is I would say make your personal statement look strong and make sure you have strong references.

Third thing is don't panic or get stressed about your predictions because the thing is that the majority of applicants unfortunately apply with straight As and A stars and thats just a reminder that me and you both need to work harder as we are not there yet. I was super unlucky as I was on a university access scheme for Manchester and then they removed me mid October which was really unfortunate. These things happen and we should just make ourselves stronger in the process.

Also another thing I would say is please don't listen to your friends or people you speak to all the time even if they're doing amazing things etc but they don't know you as much as you know yourself. I have this amazing friend who is applying to a really good uni and then we ended up having an argument over my uni choices and to her she didn't like them but ultimately I knew what I was going through and you don't have to explain your decisions to anyone. Just see a careers advisor and talk to your teachers!! With me, its only 1 subject with a C and its a science subject biology....if you have 2 Bs you need to think about whether they are high or low Bs and how to reach A level

Please remember we have time so don't worry at all and lets use this opportunity to grow!!

It depends on your willingness to resist a levels if necessary, i never recommended “safety” options, you apply where you want to go.

Hello @CabzyZeninX_

They are all very good options which you are considering. If these are places you want to go then I would encourage you to include them if you have visited them and you feel that you would be happy at each location. It would also be important to choose some options with lower entry requirements as well.

There are possibilities that the universities mentioned may offer you a place with a lower entry requirement, but this cannot be guaranteed. at least at Leicester, it is very much done on a case-by-case basis. In the worst-case scenario, you could always try and apply in clearing; some of the best students got to university through clearing.

In terms of contextual offers, this again very much depends on individual circumstances. One factor which would increase someone's chance of getting a contextual offer is if they are the first in their family to go to university, but as you are not, I think it would be unlikely on this ground that you would get a contextual offer. There may, however, be other circumstances specific to you which may mean you are given a contextual offer.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do let me know.

Hello @ageshallnot

That is a good question. The main purpose for responding to older threads is that many of these threads will be visited each academic year by students in similar situations, and so it is good to keep the threads up to date. Furthermore, the majority of individuals who use this platform and look at these threads will not actually leave a comment. Therefore, although there may only be 9 responses to this thread, the thread may have ultimately reached thousands or even millions of other students.

Fair points, but on the other hand it does make Leicester look a bit desperate.
