EM Modulation

Hiya! Could anyone explain how one might decode an AM radio signal? I was wondering, would you need to apply a fourier transformation?

Hello Hep5!

I am an Italian amateur radio and believe that the Fourier transform is not typically necessary for decoding AM radio signals. But can be useful for analysing the signal and its characteristics in the frequency domain.
Are you also a radio amateur or SWL?

Supplement:
Frequency analysis by means of Fourier transform can be useful for:

1.

Determination of the fundamental frequency and modulation frequency.

2.

Studying the distribution of frequencies in a signal.

3.

Identification of additional frequencies present in the signal.
