Help with university choices for maths

Im applying for maths at Exeter Swansea Cardiff and Plymouth (as my safety) with the predicted grades AAB but my B grade is a bit iffy so I don’t know whether to pick another safety option or just another uni I like the look of (Sheffield or Liverpool). And if I pick another safety option I’m not sure which I would even pick that is good for maths.

Hi!

So glad to hear you are applying for Cardiff! I love it here, and think its such a good uni, great student community and the perfect city to be student in! Our maths undergraduate degree is accredited, and offers opportunities for you to study abroad or apply for a year in industry. The maths course has a cool building, that is very new and designed to a high quality.

Hi there!

It’s great to hear you’re considering Swansea for Mathematics! 😊 With your predicted grades of AAB, Swansea could be a great option. Our BSc Mathematics course typically asks for ABB–BBC, including Maths, so you’re well within range.

Here’s why Swansea stands out:

👉 Student Satisfaction: The Mathematics department ranks 3rd in the UK for student satisfaction (Complete University Guide 2025).
👉 State-of-the-Art Facilities: You’ll study in the £32.5 million Computational Foundry at the Bay Campus, offering cutting-edge resources for mathematics and computer science. https://www.swansea.ac.uk/computational-foundry/
👉 Great Student City: Aside from being the 7th safest university city in the UK, Swansea has a really friendly and welcoming vibe, mostly thanks to our awesome beach!🏖️

We’ve also got an Open Day on 14 June, which is a great chance to chat with staff and explore the campus if you’re still deciding!

Feel free to ask me anything else about life at Swansea.
