Do unis really look at college attendance?

Keep getting threatened by teachers that Unis will see my attendance, but not sure how true that is?

They don't - so ignore your teachers.

They’ll only know about it if your college include it in your reference.

But if you’re not attending that can be a problem. Is there a particular reason that your attendance is an issue?

I don’t always attend lessons that don’t feel productive to me and I work much better from home, especially in Art. I feel like my grades speak for themselves and my attendance isn’t relevant

If you aren’t attending then how do you know which lessons will or won’t be productive for you?
If you’re thinking of applying for an art or creative degree then not engaging with lessons could be a big issue. When universities are looking at your portfolio they’re looking to see whether you will benefit from teaching and coaching provided in the studio. An applicant can produce the most amazing art work but if they “do their own thing” and don’t engage with teaching then they’re unlikely to get offers. Universities want students who will benefit from and engage with their teaching.
