pre settled and full support

I have pre settled status as a non-eu national (eu family member) and have been living in the uk for the past 4 years, studying here for the past 3 which means I would be paying home fees and be eligible for tuition fees.
my questions is am I eligible for maintenance loans as well? I received information saying I was eligible and then information saying I was not; the ukgov eligibility checker website has info that says I would be able to get full support

Hi there,

Normally, to be eligible for the Maintenance Loan you need to have Settled Status, or be working while you study.

Are you working at the moment? Do you know when you'll get Settled Status?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi there,

What nationality are you and how old are you? When exactly did you move to the UK? Does your EU family member have pre-settled or settled status?

Thanks, Drew

Hello,

My nationality is Brazilian and I just turned 20. I moved to the UK in December 2020 and my mother (EU family member) also has pre-settled status.

Hi there,

So you have limited leave to remain in the UK?

Thanks, Drew

Hi,
Yes, that’s right

Hi there,

Is your EU family member working in the UK while you study?

Thanks,
Claire

Hi Claire,

She is but she’s been working as self-employed for the past year

Hi there, to be eligible you must meet the below criteria:

Be an EU/EEA or Swiss National (or a family member of)

Both student (and their family member) must have been granted Pre Settled Status or Settled Status prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course.

The student should provide the required HODS information on the paper application form.

Be an ordinarily resident in the UK, Gibraltar, the EEA or Switzerland for at least 3 years prior to the start of their course.

Be an ordinarily resident in England on the first day of the first academic year of their course.

The parent/step parent must be working throughout the student’s studies

The parent/step parent must receive wages for this work but can also have ‘pocket money’ for voluntary work

This work must be effective, genuine and not of a scale which would be considered marginal or ancillary.

Thanks, Stephen

Sorry for the silly question but just want to make sure - does self employment count as working for the purpose of maintenance loan since it’s not a ‘fixed’ payslip from a company?

Yes, self employment would be classed as this. Thanks, Jason
