extra time

im so slow at exams, i do english lit maths and biology and i never manage to finish on time, which severely impact my grades, but my teachers wont recommend me for extra time because theres nothing formally wrong with me that would affect my ability to do things in a set time, i'm just slow. im not sure about how to go about requesting it??? i really think it would help me, especially for english lit and maths. i seriously just cant concentrate sometimes, during exams i zone out for at least 20 minutes combined, or sometimes i blank due to the added pressure of timings- for example during my maths mock in summer i blanked completely and had a panic attack because i was barely halfway through the paper and had like 10 minutes left, i redid it under less strict exam conditions (not in an exam hall) and had basically unlimited time and i did quite well, like i KNEW the content its just that the pressure of timings was so stressful. anyway is it worth trying? i have scoliosis so im pretty sure i qualify for rest breaks but i seriously feel that extra time would really really help me reach my full potential. btw my predicted grades also suck (ABC) because i flopped every mock i did either because i ran out of time or because i blanked so i literally don't think i'll be able to apply to decent unis this year, but imo my grades dont reflect my actual ability... anyway any advice is appreciated
Ask the senco or student support team at your school. They can assess you for extra time because if you have slower processing (which is what you’re saying) then you’ll likely qualify if your score is low enough. Your school would have to put in place for your class tests you make it your normal way of working and get evidence that you’re frequently running out of time. Hope that helps 🙂
