Learning about Hinduism

Hi! I’m a white english girl, but most of my friends come from South Asia. I often feel left out when they discuss their cultures, and I avoid asking too many questions as I don’t want to seem disrespectful. I am taking RS A-level and I want to study philosophy at uni, I’m really interested in other religions and cultures but I don’t know how to learn about them. I’m in year 11 so am mostly revising right now, but fore example I recently brought the Bhagavad Gita as I really want to learn about Hinduism - I’d love to have serious conversations with my friends, even though I am an atheist, about their cultures and religions but i don’t know how to go about it, advice?
@agent_duck343 you're Hindu. Would you help?

As a starting point, I'd learn about all the major festivals in Hinduism.
