Pay for private halls using Universal Credit?

Can you pay for private halls using universal credit/housing benefits?

I am coming from Temporary supported accommodation due to DV, and I am 27. I really want to avoid taking out a maintenance loan if I can because I have a strong aversion to debt, even if it's a "student tax". I received PIP, which is why I am still getting universal credit while in my first year of university. I have only taken out a tuition loan.

The conditions of my current temporary supported accommodation are just so bad and I want to get out to focus on my studies, it would be really beneficial to find a studio of some kind. This is in London.

What are my options?
