The two that spring to mind are A L'aventure (I thought it was rubbish personally, but it was certainly dirty) and Belle De Jour (a brilliant film). Neither are exactly full on porn though, if that's what you're after

8 Femmes - Great film, basically a murder mystery musical with plenty of twists. The characters don't act as if they're in a musical if you know what I mean, as they stare at characters who are singing. It has Catherine Deneuve, Emanuelle Beart (Manon des Sources), Ludivine Sagnier (Swimming Pool) and Isabelle Huppert (Ma Mere)
Ma Mere - Very dark and Oedipal, but worth a watch
La Cite Des Enfants Perdus - Surreal like Amelie but more disturbing
Calvaire (The Ordeal)- A Belgian film about a man who is lost in the Ardennes and is held hostage by a hostel owner, who believes that the lost man is his wife.
C'est Arrive Pres De Chez Vous (Man Bites Dog) - A documentary crew follows a serial killer and records his murders.
Les Chansons D'Amour - Very amusing musical with a few sad bits thrown in. Songs are not your typical musical fare with lines like "est-ce-que ta jolie paire des fesses" (is it your pretty pair of buttocks) and the equally weird "je suis beau, jeune et breton, je sens la pluie, l'ocean et les crepes au citron" ( I am handsome, young and from Brittany, I smell of the rain, the ocean and lemon pancakes.
The Three Colours Trilogy (Blue, White And Red) - All very good films that are very loosely connected. White is my favourite, which is about a Polish man striving for equality and trying to get revenge on his ex-wife.
Persepolis- Excellent film about an Iranian girl coming to terms with politics, religion etc. very much like Amelie.
La Vie En Rose - Good for everyone, whether your a fan of La Mome Piaf or not.
Les Visiteurs - So bad that it's kind of good.
Swimming Pool - Good if you like films about relationships between various people.
5X2 - A relationship backwards basically
That's all I can think of at the moment.

Don't know if its been said already but last year there was a Tv series called 'The Returned' (I think its called 'les revenants' in french) which was pretty damn good; Its all about the dead coming back to life in this small town.
There's also 'Jean de florette'

I've watched Amélie and loved it, and I've just started to watch Le Huitième jour... a fantastic film, in my French class as an end of term treat.
But yeh... what anyone got any ideas?! or suggestions?! I could watch friends dvds with French soundtrack, but it gets a big boring after a while, i want something genuine, French, quirky... just a good watch really.
