Hello @Alan Laki,

Hope you are doing well.

You could consider Swansea University - I've thoroughly enjoyed all my years studying at Swansea.

The required grades for most courses in Swansea Uni are BBB. The general entry requirements can be found here, Undergraduate Entry Requirements - Swansea University.

However, the admissions team consider much more than just your A-Levels grades. They assess your GCSE grades, personal statement, references and work or voluntary experience (if applicable). So while you of course have to put in a lot of effort to get the required grades, don't forget to also take your time drafting a truthful, straight forward yet impactful personal statement. It could go a long way.

Also, if you aren't made an offer for the main scheme, you may be made an offer for foundation year. It may also be an offer for a similar course with lower entry requirements.

Like @AhsokaTano- stated, the course in question is also an important factor. Some courses have lower entry requirements than others or more flexible entry requirements.
Courses like Medicine or Pharmacy for instance tend to be strict with their entry requirements.

As a last resort, you may have to apply to the universities via clearing.

Wishing you the very best in your exams and application process!

Don't see the point of not applying and waiting for clearing, as if you don't get offers you are happy with, or get offers but change your mind and want to go elsewhere, you can reject them and go into clearing anyway.

Even through you have BBC you can still apply for say a couple of courses higher than this. Also, with Polish you are studying 4 A-levels, so if you were predicted say an A in Polish, I assume that would bring your best 3 A-levels up to ABB, which would open up quite a few more doors.

Hiya Alan,

Thanks for reaching out with this - you've already received some great advice and tips so far. However I'd like to advise on top of this, have you perhaps considered asking your teachers if they'd be willing to boost up your predicted grades a little? Perhaps from Bs to As and C to B? It may not be possible for them, but I'd say it was worth an ask. Just explain that you think you are capable of higher grades, intend to work for them and would like the chance to get into a higher-ranking university course. You never know, they might be willing to be flexible!

I hope this helps, best of luck 🙂

Definitely discuss with your teachers, they will be using the evidence they have to decide on most likely grades - they don't pluck the predicteds out of the air

Its important to be honest with each other, they will have seen other students in previous years and know how they got on - you will probably have a sense of where you are working grade wise - its a bit of guess work getting these predictions "right"

An example, not a million miles from where you are - my youngest is in Yr13 and got CCC in her latest mocks, she is certainly able to get to BBB and the school was okay putting ABB in UCAS. The unis she wants are all AAB to BBB.

If things go well in her A Levels she will hopefully get her Firm with ABB (unless its elite uni or a competitive course, most unis usually accept a dropped grade). If she gets BBB her Insurance will hopefully take her, if not then she will be in Clearing - she has already applied to her Clearing choice knowing she wont Firm or Insure with them - definitely don't wait until Clearing, apply for some between now and January. Clearing is your safety net if the results are lower then you hope

cant see why the school would not put predicted grades above BBC (which is where you are now, not where you will be at exam time - which is the whole point of "predicted" grades)

Do some research and you should be able to find which unis make contextual offers around ABB for courses of interest. Check the small print because its amazing how much uni policy varies with these things

You may find straight Economics is pretty competitive, ie above ABB. Variants like Economics and Politics, Economics and IR, Economics + a language can be less popular and less demanding of grades
