Law uni application

I’m predicted A*A*A and my personal statement is good but my GCSEs are 77666444. My uni choices that Ive applied to are ucl kcl qmul soas and city. Do you guys think this is unrealistic because qmul has enhanced GCSEs requirements but mine don’t meet it.

Not meeting the minimum GCSE requirements for any university could be grounds for automatic rejection, however, for most of your choices this won’t be a large concern. I wouldn’t say that it is unrealistic that you receive offers from these universities, as most of them place little to no emphasis on GCSEs, but you may want to watch out for QMUL if this is the only one of your choices with requirements that are above your GCSE grades. Your LNAT score will naturally play a large role in determining whether or not you receive offers from UCL and KCL, but other than this, there don’t seem to be any major red flags in your application (assuming you meet the GCSE requirements for the others).

Oh yeah that makes sense. Do you think I should substitute qmul for a different uni then?
Hi,

It's great that you're aiming high and have strong predicted grades. Your personal statement being good is another big plus as it's your chance to stand out and show your passion for your chosen course.

As for your GCSEs, this will vary between the different universities that you are applying to but if your grade 4s aren't in Maths or English then I would not worry too much as this tends to be what the GCSE requirements mainly focus on.

For the law programme at SOAS, the website states:
Law single honours programmes / Law combined honours programmes
Applicants applying for single hons. or joint Law Programmes will have to undertake the Law National Aptitude Test (LNAT) if you have taken one of the following qualifications:

access to HE Diploma

BTEC Qualifications (including when combined with A levels)

Foundation Years and other non-standard qualifications

There is no mention of GCSE requirements so I would not worry too much but if in doubt, I would contact each universities team directly to understand if they have specific requirements with GCSE results. In terms of Queen Mary, if you are planning to sit the LNAT exam, this may play a big role in the decision to accept your application so I think it's worth applying to - you never know how much weight they'll give to your results, your predicated grades (which are incredible and matter more at this stage in your educational journey than your GCSEs) and to your personal statement.

My overall advice would be to contact each university separately if you are worried about your results hindering your acceptance.

Best of luck!
