Between Data Science and Pharmacy, which degree is more useful?

Hi everyone! I'm currently in year 13 and due to submit my UCAS application for my chosen universities. However, I'm stuck between pharmacy and data science, and I was wondering which one is more useful as a degree.

Hi @user12578!

My name is Dominic, and I am a 4th year Mpharm student at the university of Nottingham.
Both are really good degrees, however are quite different from each other.

From a pharmacy perspective, our role in healthcare is developing day by day, with more responsibilities like prescribing, being given to us. And so lots of companies and hospitals are hiring more and more pharmacists as we can do a lot more!

Pharmacy is a very healthcare centered degree, which test not only your scientific knowledge but also your ability to communicate with all sorts of patients you might encounter. Therefore it is really important to decide if you were to choose pharmacy, that you have a good scientific background, as the degree is very scientifically heavy, especially with the introduction of new concepts like pharmacology, pharmaceuticals and pharmacy law and practice.

If you want anymore information about pharmacy or the degree we have on offer here at Nottingham, then reply to this message.

Dom 🙂
