Modules

So ive been keeping up with my studies and it’s the seventh week in. But i slept through my first statistics class test and received a zero mark, which is expected. The panic has just set in now though that I’m not going to pass this year. Am I completely screwed?

It's extremely unlikely that scoring a zero in a single test will mean you failing the whole year. How much does this one test count towards the overall mark for the module?

Also, assuming you set an alarm on your phone and just slept through it, can I suggest that you invest in an separate alarm clock?

Hello @Nxah28

Hope you're okay 🙂. I would recommend talking to your academic adviser and explaining the situation. Sometimes, there is a chance of re-takes. Even if this is capped at a certain mark, this may be worth considering? Also, maybe enquire at the information zone/hub of your university, they will probably know the best next steps for you.

If you need any advice or have any questions please let me know.

Hi there,

I would also advise talking to your academic advisor/personal tutor about this as they will know your marking system better and will have the best information for you about this. You could also talk to your model tutor or university help team if you don't have a personal tutor.

I would imagine that failing on module would not be enough for you to fail the whole year, however this depends on how your university grades things and how much that test was worth in terms of your overall grade.

You may also get the chance to resit so it's worth asking about this as even though they are usually capped at 40%, it would give you the chance to resit and pass the module.

I hope some of this helps,
