Asking about Culture

I’m a 15-year-old English girl, and most of my friends are either Hindu or Muslim. I really want to learn more about their cultures and traditions because I think it’s fascinating and important to understand where they’re coming from. But at the same time, I feel a bit awkward about it, like they might think I’m being intrusive or disrespectful for asking questions. I don’t want to come off as ignorant or like I’m overstepping, but I also don’t want to seem uninterested in their culture either. How can I approach this in a way that shows I’m genuinely curious and respectful? Should I just wait for them to bring things up themselves, or is it okay to ask them about their traditions and beliefs directly? Any advice would be really appreciated.

I'm Muslim and honestly I don't think they'll be offended if you ask them politely. Maybe do this thing where they get to ask you a question about your beliefs and you get a chance to ask one back. I honestly think that they won't mind because I go to a very diverse school and most people wouldn't have an issue with it and they'll be more than happy to talk about their culture.
