A Level Choices for Economics Degree

Hi I’m looking to do an economic degree in uni. Would maths fmaths physics and economics be a good selection? My school requires us to choose 4 a levels and an extra as a backup, so would geography be a good choice for this?

My current GCSE predicted
Maths 9
Bio 9
Chem 9
Physics 9
Add Maths A
Eng Lit 9
Eng Lan 8
Geo 9
History 8/9
RS 9
Spanish 7

If you look at 'entry requirements' for Economics on Uni course pages, you will see that Maths is the essential A level subject - you don't actually need to be taking Economics. Some top Unis may prefer additional FM. Physics/Maths would leave other degree options to you if you changed your mind about a degree subject during Sixth Form.

Do not attempt 5 A levels - all you will do is stress yourself out, and risk all your grades.
No Uni wants or prefers 5 A levels, or would give you any extra credit for doing this - so its a total waste of time and effort. Taking Maths and FM, if you are aiming at a Maths heavy degree subject, is the only situation where taking 4 makes any sense.

Would Math Fm Physics and Economics be a good choice overall then? I am likely to do something in finance such as investment banking

maths fm econ and physics is probably one of the best and most common subject combinations for econ at uni. geo should be fine as a backup subject as it has similarities to econ and is an essay subject (tho you probably shouldn’t replace it with further maths, which is highly recommended)

These would leave many different degree subjects open to you
