Long Residence Student Finance

Hello, I am in a messed-up situation. I have started a nursing course, and I got in through clearing. I requested my history from the home office and they sent it, i saw all my visas in the country. I uploaded the previous visas and other documents. Student finance replied that anybody can get a visa and that I must provide utility bills, bank statements, etc. As for bank statements, the bank can only provide statements from 2018 till the current year due to GDPR; they can only go up to 6 years. I provided birth histories, and now I have asked GP to give a summary, but then student finance is only willing to accept proof with nothing more than a 6-month break in between. I am stuck! HMRC has sent a record of national insurance contributions. Still, it is a yearly statement; some years have no record apart from the figures I am expected to pay national insurance contributions. The university emailed me that tuition fees have not been paid. My biggest shock is they rejected my visa/resident permit proof! How can I get the next visa if I am not in the country? The type of visa/residence permit I had and have can only be renewed within the country. They have asked me to provide evidence from 2006-2019. I honestly do not know what to do, I have already started placements, I quit my job to focus on this course as i knew i would not be able to cope with the kids, having a full time and studying. I waited for weeks for the Home Office to send me all my documents. I included certificates even from 2005, but they rejected them. I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest anything for me to do. To leave this nursing course will be an extensive setback for me. I was an international student in 2006 and was 19 years old. I was not even paying my bills then, so I contacted the Home Office in the first place, as they would be the most legit evidence for me to provide.
Hi Maryb36,

Have you been asked to provide evidence for long residency? What is your status in the UK?

Thanks,
Calum

Hello,
Yes, I have been asked to provide long residency. I have provided it, but they said that providing just the visas I had in the past is not good enough. They want council tax, utilities bill, etc. To prove I lived in the country, At the time, my student visas could only be applied within the country, and they were consecutive. I provided other forms of evidence, which I mentioned above. My status is Right to Family/Private life. I will apply for indefinite leave next year. I have lived in the UK for half of my life and in total 19 years.
Hi there,

Have they requested any evidence from school or college if you were studying when you were younger?

Thanks, Drew

I arrived in 2005 and was 17years old, I provided certificates and diplomas.I have sent a new batch of evidence tho and hoping they will respond soon. I have been advised to withdraw on a certain date if I dont hear back from student finance and unfortunately I have to pay 25% of the fees due to all of this. So if student finance does not reply before that date i have to withdraw and arrange an instalment plan with the Uni. This whole thing really got me down.
I understand Mary sorry but unfortunately our processing timescales need to be followed for when this is expected to be reviewed. We cannot escalate or have this evidence processed sooner and can only ask that you speak to your University directly. Thanks, David
