Full time maintenance loan

I'll try keep as brief as possible but with enough info to be able to answer...

I am now 34 and since 18 I have started University multiple times and not completed due to not being able to (long story short here is that I have ADHD but was only diagnosed at 32, but makes complete sense...lack of time management, focus, organisation, executive function etc, hence why I just couldn't complete as I never had the support)

Fast forward to this year and I have enrolled at The Open Uni part time and completed my first module (getting 60's and 70's and then once medicated I managed a 91!!)

Anyway...I started my degree part time as I was working, however I am now in a position to be able to study full time again, as I am no longer working, and would like to focus solely on my study's and new career path, is there any way I could apply for special circumstances to be able to get funding to complete my degree full-time as opposed to part-time?

Thank you.

Hi there,

Are you planning to continue with the Open University, or will you be moving to a university that will have you physically attend classes?

Thanks, Graeme

I will be continuing with Open University, on the course I am currently doing.

Would this make a difference?
Hi camillaporter,

If you are looking to change the intensity of your course and are continuing with the Open University they would need to send us an electronic task confirming this and this will be processed. If you would like to apply for a maintenance loan you will need to complete a Medical Declaration with your doctor and send this to us.

Thanks,
Calum

So do I need to first change the intensity of my course via the OU, and then apply for a full time maintenance loan with the OU, alongside a medical declaration from my Dr?

Is this all I need to send in to be able to go back full time and have access to funding from sfe?

Thank you
Hi there. Are you already receiving Tuition Fee funding from SFE for the part time course? Thanks, Leah.

I am yes
Hi camillaporter,

In that case, yes, all you would need to provide is the medical declaration to apply for the Maintenance Loan in addition to the Tuition Fee Loan you have been awarded.

Thanks, Clare
