Materials Science and Engineering at Imperial 2025

Hey guys
I went to the interview for this course a week ago (20/11/2024). I haven't received any update, so I was just wondering if anybody else has. I know its only been one week so I shouldn't be too worried, but i have seen that in previous years people get offers after inteview from imperial for the same course in <1 week

Hi, I've applied to the same course but I've not even received an invite to interview yet so I don't think you should be too worried🙂 .

Btw, when did you receive your invite for the interview

Hello, congratulations on the interview! Would you be able to share what questions you were asked in your 1-1 interview and also how the group task went?

hi, im not sure im allowed to share exactly what the questions were, but I was asked a few questions with regards to my statement, and i was asked a little bit some basic AS level physics questions. I was also asked about how I might test for the presence of a certain metal in a material, and was also asked about my motivation for the course. As for the group task, you just do the research before, and then go in and talk about your research, and then discuss what was the best research done by a certain person (it doesn't matter who is chosen, it just matters that you communicate properly). Its unlike oxbridge interviews in the sense that it didnt require lots of deep critical thinking, and is much more laid back. The interviewer was very nice to me anyways, so i thought it was a relatively calm experience.

yeah 100% the requirements online dont even mention further maths a level. I just did it cos my school offers it and im applying to other courses where not having it would be a significant disadvantage

i think someone on this thread mentioned that last year it took around 15 days after the interview to start giving offers, but on the website it says it could be up to three weeks after interview before you receive an offer
