How should I start the process for a loan?

Hi there! I'm going to be studying in the UK starting sept/oct 2025 and I guess I'm just a bit lost on how to apply for funding. Although I am a UK national, I haven't lived in the UK for over four years meaning I don't qualify for government loans (as far as I'm aware). I'm generally considered an international applicant and will be paying international fees BUT I've been lurking around on the internet and saw that certain private loans have an eligibility criteria that you "must not be a UK citizen" in order to apply, so I'm just a tad bit stumped.

Also just in case anyone was wondering I don't think I can apply for U.S loans either since I'm not a us-citizen or a green card holder.
Hi there,

Have you been living in the USA for the last 4 years and when do you plan to move back to the UK? Did you move to the USA permanently or was it on a temporary basis?

Thanks, Drew

Yes, I’m currently finishing my fourth year of high school in the USA. Per our visa we are considered “non-permanent residents” so I assume that constitutes a temporary basis, and I plan to move to the UK probably by September/October since that’s when most unis start. 😁
Hi there. What was the reason for moving to the USA? Were you living in the UK before moving to the USA? Thanks, Leah.

I lived in the UK for one year prior to moving to the USA because of my dad’s job, but I was living with my grandparents. My dad (the reason I have British citizenship) hasn’t lived in the UK since about 2002.

Hi Panmai, can you confirm when you're returning to the UK? Thanks, Jason
