An Overview of Kingston's Four Campuses

Hi all,

Before I arrived I didn't realise Kingston is made up of four campuses, so I thought I would share an overview of the campuses to help those applying get an understanding of what it is like here and where you might be.

Each campus has its own specialised library with books and facilities that suit the courses that are based there. Plus, canteens with lots of great food options.

Penrhyn Road

I consider this to be the main campus of Kingston. Many services are based here such as the Careers Centre, the Student Union, the Health Centre and university gym. It also has the Town House which won the prestigious RIBA Stirling prize in 2021 for the architecture. It holds the library, a café, spaces for events and outdoor balcony and rooftop areas that you can get a great view of Kingston from, study or go to with friends.

It is a 10-minute walk from the centre of Kingston and 15 from the station, so a great location.

Some courses that are based here are science courses, pharmacy, law, mathematics and English.

Knights Park

This is where most of the art and design courses are based and the Student Union bar!! There are lots of great workshops in the recently built extension. The river runs right by the campus making the outdoor space a lovely place to sit with friends.

This is about a 10-minute walk from Penrhyn and 10 minutes from Kingston centre and 15 from the train station.

The art and design school also has another building near the River Thames in Kingston (10 minutes from Knights Park) called River House, this is where I am usually based as I study fashion promotion and communication. I know that some fine art studios are based here as well as MA interior design. When I am based at this campus I enjoy eating my lunch by the river, it is a really calm place to be.

Kingston Hill

This campus is home to the business school and courses such as midwifery. It has a great campus feel with lots of nature surrounding it.

Richmond Park and Wimbledon and Putney Commons are near by the campus to explore. Putney is also just a bus journey away from here.

To get to the centre of Kingston it is just a short 10-minute bus ride that you can get for free using the Kingston University bus.

Roehampton Vale

The engineering students are based at this campus, which creates a great community.

When I visited, I was really impressed with the facilities such as the wind tunnel and 3D printers.

It is just 5 minutes further along from Kingston Hill on the bus, so a 15 minute bus ride from the centre of Kingston. There is an Asda with a McDonalds in just a short walk away which students often go to for lunch.

You can do virtual tours of all the campuses on the Kingston website Welcome | Kingston University London

Hopefully this gives you a little overview of the four campuses and if you have any questions, like where you might be based feel free to ask 😊
