What subject did you take the BTEC in? Applied Science? Business? IT? etc.

This is important because it defines how large each of those units is, which are exam-based and which are coursework-based etc., which impacts how many BTEC points each of those grades is worth.

It would have been useful if you'd pointed out that you'd edited your original post from 22nd November earlier today, and changed your grades. I thought I was going mad, because each time I calculated your overall grade I got a difference answer - until I realised that sometimes I was looking at your edited post, and sometimes at my reply (where your original post is quoted). Anyway...

The way BTECs work is that each unit earns you points, which are totaled and converted into an overall grade. However, for external (exam-based) units where you didn't achieve a distinction (i.e. Unit 1 and Unit 5 in your case), the number of points actually depends on the mark too. For example, if you just scrape a merit you get fewer marks that if you just missed a distinction. I therefore need to give your points as a range. You have achieved between 156 and 175 points. Converted to a grade, that's either a DD or a D*D.

You can see both of these scenarios depicted below, using the official Pearson calculator (which lists the units in non-numerical sequence - sorry).

You will note that the grades are the same in both images - but the unit points are different for Unit 1 and Unit 5.
