Through extra clearing do you have to pay? Even if u didn’t apply before the deadline.

Clearing and UCAS Extra are seperate processes.

If you hadn't submitted any applications yet, you wouldn't need to use Extra. It is only for people that received no offers, or declined the ones they had.

For both Extra and Clearing, yes, you need to pay the standard application fee in order to use them.

there's months before the deadline though
and the vast majority of courses don't close on the deadline and will allow you to apply a normal application to 5 choices between february and june

Clearing (and Extra) are PART of UCAS. So you need a full application to use them. If you want to go to university then applying before the deadline to 5 choices will maximise your options. If you miss the deadline then applying to 5 universities as soon as possible after the deadline is the next best option. Waiting until August and then having to fill in a full UCAS application and make decisions in a rush in clearing is the worst option.
