English at Newcastle University

Hi,

I’d like to study English language and literature at Newcastle University. However i have a BBC and they require ABB

On ucas it says that ABB is the most common and BCC is the lowest, should I still consider applying?

I might consider a different course, like just English literature on its own or English language on its own since they seem to have a acceptance rate for them with my grades (BBC), 100% for English language and 61% for English literature.

I need another aspirational choice anyways so if there are any other university’s (high ranked) please let me know!!!

Newcastle have a very good contextual offer scheme known as PARTNERS. It has very nice requirments with one of them simply being an ethnic minority. This is the website: https://www.ncl.ac.uk/partners/how-to-apply/eligibility/

Even if you think you might not be eligible, check the criteria anyway, it one of the least strict contextual offer schemes I have seen and if you are eligible it would reduce the offer down to a BCC for English.

You're welcome! Just be aware that as part of the requirements you must make it your firm choice and also attend a week long summer school at the campus next year. Everything is paid for so don't worry. I'm doing it too 🙂.
