History and archeology joint honours

Im looking at doing either history and archeology or just history as a degree. Does anyone have any experience to say if history and archeology is worth it or is it better to just do history?

If you're interested in archeology, then it is worth it.

Just be aware that as with any joint subject degree, you will not do the full degree in either subject - that might sound a bit obvious but it has very practical implications. It means that you wont have the same overall choice of units as those doing purely 'History' or purely 'Archaeology' - because of timetable clashes and what each subject may 'require' you take as compulsory units etc. This can be frustrating if it means missing out on a particular unit or topic 'strand'.

You also need to investigate if taking a joint subject degree impacts any eligibility for professional accreditation etc for Archaeology and if this matters to you - Accredited Degrees | Chartered Institute for Archaeologists

PS. The courses at York are particularly flexible and include Historical Archaeology (BA) - Undergraduate, University of York
I am in 2nd year History at Glasgow and have taken Archaeology as an elective for first and second year. At the end of this year I can add it as a joint if I wish, I am not sure hot works in all universities but Scottish universities you select 3 subjects so 2 more if a single honours and 1 more if a joint and you can add/ swap and change. Maybe worth researching or emailing the universities you are interested in and seeing the possibility of dropping one if you do not enjoy the joint.

If you enjoy both it is definitely worth it
