Year 12 students thinking of retaking GCSEs

I got 9888876665 in my GCSEs
And my current a levels are : maths, fm, cs and econ
I am thinking of resitting my English language GCSE in which I got a 6, however most people are saying that retakes are looked down upon my top unis. Seen as I’m thinking of applying to imperial/lse is it worth it to retake English language and get a grade 9, and are my GCSE grades good enough for a econ/maths/cs degree. My 9 was in chemistry and 8s were in maths/econ/phy/bio. Also I am sitting my a level maths exam at the end of year 12, will this boost my application for uni?

Your GCSE grades seems fine to me, I personally wouldn't retake it, as you already got good grades + it will cost money retaking the exams as you got grade 4 and above in your core subjects. I would suggest looking at the universities you want to go to and their entry requirements.

You have to declare all grades so a resit isn't worth it if you meet the GCSE grade requirement.
It'll help if you get an A* ... check whether you'll be set three grade requirement not including Y12 grade though.
