Time to downgrade the UK monarchy?

Should the UK monarchy be downgraded into a more statesman like position whereby they receive far less tax payers money, with most of the estate handed over to the government, and subsequently used for charitable causes?

I don't like the idea that the royal family go around the UK and the globe lecturing people about various things, from climate change and global warming, through to dealing with tragedies such as flooding or major accidents etc. They come across as privileged hypocrites.

People keep coming out with this like it's a choice within their power.

It is down to the people, not down to just one individual.

Outwith extremes, no, it's outside your control, even as a small group

"I don't like the idea that the royal family go around the UK and the globe lecturing people about various things".. etc, nothing you can do about any of that, they have billions, billions more in assets and don't need you or even me for anything.

All these 'disband the monarchy!' convos go the same way.

They are privileged hypocrites, what do they even do apart from stamping laws and go on holidays?
They shouldn't exist any more and they definitely shouldn't receive any money from the people any more when there are people that will literally freeze to death in their homes this winter.

The King does ensure that the UK government can never form a coup and do away with the monarchy. Hitler managed to grab absolute power in Germany far too easily. That could ever happen in the UK whilst the armed forces are loyal to the King.

The best solution is to wind down their status and income, so that they are figureheads. Maybe give them enough money and security to get by. The Prime Minister gets around £150,000 plus expenses, so perhaps that should be the level of income the King gets annually.

I do support that, but tradition and social systems will never allow for something like that to happen unless an incredibly radical party was to be voted into parliament.
