Subject choosing

I’m in s4 and I’ve chosen Mathematics, English, chemistry, biology, health and food technology and geography.
I want to know for s5 which subject between health and food technology or geography
Which is more useful for me if I want to study medicine in Edinburgh university.

Hi @Alias may

I've not been in the Scottish education system since P7 so take what say with a pinch of salt! On Edinburgh's website it lists the entry requirements as "SQA Highers: AAAAA by end of S5 and BB at Advanced Higher in S6".

Under the subject requirements they say you need "SQA: Highers: Chemistry and two from Biology, Mathematics/Applications of Mathematics or Physics". They do have some alternative subjects in case these aren't available to students at S5.

Here's the page I'm using for this information: https://undergraduate.degrees.ed.ac.uk/?action=view&code=a100

I'm not super familiar with the SQA Highers system but hopefully this information can help you, as long as you meet the entry requirements, any other subject choices should be fine. I'd pick the subject that you enjoy most, and that you can achieve that required A in.

Neither are more useful per say, it is just whichever one you are more confident you will get the A in that you will need to even have a chance at uni. So just choose the one you are better at, and enjoy more!
