My main two concerns are probably the quality of facilities and how nice the city is. I know bristol is a really nice city with good facilities, but southampton is one of the best unis for eee in the country apparently, so im not sure which to choose.

OK, that is actually extremely good criteria, and unfortunately I can't help specifically as I didn't study and have not visited either of those cities. But now that you've clarified, hopefully someone else can come in and help.

I have the exact same dilemma. Have you decided on it yet?

For Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Southampton has higher average entry grades, better graduate outcomes and better student satisfaction, Bristol has better research. According to www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk.

topuniversities.com says that Southampton is 70th in the world for this subject (after Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, Manchester, UCL, Edinburgh) , Bristol 151-200th (plus after King's College London, Nottingham, Glasgow, Trinity College Dublin, Sheffield, University College Dublin, Birmingham, Queen Mary University of London, Warwick, and Leeds).

edurank.org says that, for Electronic Engineering, Southampton is 4th in the UK and Bristol 5th (after Cambridge, Imperial, and UCL), Southampton 54th in the world and Bristol 104th in the world. For Electrical Engineering, Southampton is 6th in the UK (after Cambridge, Imperial, Oxford, Manchester, UCL) and Bristol 10th (plus after Sheffield, Nottingham, and Edinburgh). Southampton 79th in the world and Bristol 169th in the world.

As universities overall, across all subjects on average, Bristol University has higher average entry grades. It's existed as a full university for longer and it has parts that have an Oxbridge vibe. Topuniversities.com says that Bristol is the 9th best university in the UK and the 54th best university in the world, and that Southampton is the 12th best university in the UK and the 80th best university in the world.

Edurank says that, as universities overall, Bristol is the 10th best in the UK and the 100th best in the world, Southampton the 14th best in the UK and the 137th best in the world.

Prob southampton, i like bristol but it has no optional modules year 1 and 2, thats the main reason im not picking it atm. Southampton has wayy more optional modules.
