UCAT help

Hi, I am in year 12 and I’m planning to do dentistry for university. But, I have some questions about the UCAT exam, in the UL.

1) Is medify or medentry worth paying for? Because I have heard people say it’s good resource but then others say paid resources aren’t needed?

2) Generally which one is better, medify or medentry

3) My teacher told me that students who score high usually study a year before the exam. Now I have a little under a year is it possible to get 3000+.

4) How long did it take just for the UCAT exam questions or the questions in general to ‘click’ in your head and for you to fully understand them?

5) How many months before did you start studying for the exam and what was your score (if you want to share?)

thank youuuu. It will be really helpful if someone can answer these questions 😭

Hi! These are my opinions:
1) The UCAT questions banks are a good resouce if you dont want to pay, but i think it is worth paying as you get more detailed questions explanations, skill trainers, and its easier to keep track of how much you have been practicing
2) I definitely prefer medify. I did my ucat twice and my score went up by 600 when i used medify. Its alot harder but prepared me for the real thing. Medentry is a good starting place to get used to the questions types
3) This is not true at all!! Most people start revising 3 months before their exam. Ive known people who only had a month and still got 3000+. Its very easy to get burnout so revising too much may even cause your score to get worse
4) Most sections are pretty straightforward from the start, the only one i think is tricky to understand is AR. It definitely takes a while for it to click so i would recommend starting to look at some AR questions now to get used to it.
5) I started a month before and got 2800. Its not the highest but the year before I got 2200 so I was happy with my progress 😅😅

1) Medify is definitely worth paying for as it has so many questions - you don't want to be trying to find questions for free during the last few weeks. It also gives good analytics for you to keep track of your progress.
2) Both are good but most people in my school went for Medify
3) Almost all UCAT guide websites say 6 weeks before your exam is the time to start your revision. If you are planning on starting very early on I would say don't use paid resources and only do a few questions. But I would recommend focusing on Alevels until the summer of UCAT. My score was 3030 B1 and I started around 10 June with my exam 20th August.
4) It will defo take a while to get used to Qs and don't worry - Noone finds them easy. There will be a time where it all clicks even if it doesn't look like it. I would say do around 5 questions of each category just for a taster. Don't do any mock exams until 2/3 weeks before your exam. Obviously take this advice with a pinch of salt and cater it towards your needs but I would say don't stress about UCAT until the time comes for you to get serious about it.

If you need any help later on I'll help!

I was soo stressed the first time to the point i could genuinely barely read the questions. I think thats what made me get such a low score😅. But i found doing lots of mocks in exam conditions helped me to control my anxiety alot more! Another thing i didnt realise: during the test the sound of other people typing and clicking is sooo distracting even with earplugs in!! I recommend you practice with typing sounds in the background so you get used to it.

Yes get medify its the best one, after you keep doing questions for ucat u will understand them, on medify just start straight away with mocks then go over ur mistakes, i started around 6 weeks before my ucat, but did intense revision, and scored 3060 b2

Make sure you don’t get burnt out and also try to go into the exam without caring about your grade (I did that this year and it worked), the way I did this was by thinking that I’d already failed and that I can take a gap year if need be

Also, the abstract reasoning subtest has gotten removed so it’s out of 2700 now
