Loughborough Uni for someone not sporty?

I'm looking to study Psychology and I've got my eye on Loughborough Uni. I went to the open day and enjoyed the different aspects of the uni and the course. I've received an offer from there which is lovely. However the only thing I'm concerned about is the fact that I'm not sporty at all and I understand Loughborough puts an emphasis on sports. I wonder if I will struggle to make friends and relate to the other students due to my lack of interest in sports, or am I overthinking? Thanks for any insight

Loughborough isn't just about sports! I know quite a few people who aren't massively into sports, and they haven't struggled to make friends at all!

In terms of societies, you've got a wide range of things which aren't sporty here: https://lsu.co.uk/societies/list

Yes, a portion of most things would be sport, but of course not everyone would play to a professional level and so there's semi-competitive (between halls) and recreational (absolutely no pressure) sport activities for most sports as well.

So in short, you'll be fine

Hi there,
Thank you for your interest in Loughborough University. Mesub is absolutely right. If you aren't into sports so much then it won't be an issue as the University and the Loughborough Students' Union have lots of other groups you can connect with. You may even find that there are groups associated with the course you want to study, or the hall that you go to live in. The halls community is very supportive and inclusive. If you get the opportunity to live in a catered hall, then you will be able to connect with other students at mealtimes.

To sum up, you wouldn't be short of opportunities to make new friends and the University provides lots of support services, should you ever need them.

I hope that this reassures you 🙂
best wishes, Imogen
