Staying back a year in college

I was wondering if anyone has done the same thing that I am planning to do. I am currently in year 12, first year of college in the UK and I’ve realised that I want to take biology and chemistry however, it’s too late into the year to switch now.

I do like 2 of my three current subjects now, psychology and art and I was wondering if it is possible to take my AS exams for psychology this year and complete my art coursework for this year without having to retake them next year if I want to do biology and chemistry.

I know that I will have to stay longer and drop my 3rd subject but I’m wondering if I can just carry on with psychology and art in A2 while doing AS bio and chem? And in my last year would I just have bio and chem A2? Has anyone done this or know anything about it?

And also do universities care if you’ve stayed behind for a year (but have not resat anything)

hi. i did the same thing i first did alevel geography, psychology and biology but realised around november time i wanted to chnage to bio chem psychology but it was too late so i had to retake the whole of year 12. ask your school if you can do it but most school wont let you do that because of timetable mix up between alevel 12 and 13. also uni likes all 3 subjects being done at the same time.
