What's the difference between mechatronic engineering and robotic engineering?

To put it briefly as usual have procrastinated and my UCAS appointment is tomorrow. I know I want to study robotic engineering with artificial intelligence but I have a few questions:

Is there much of a difference from doing a mechatronic robotics, and a pure robotics degree?

I heavily prefer studying in London that way I could live at home, I know UCL and Queens Mary have robotic engineering but I also would like to apply for kings since the commute is easy and I liked the Uni, problem is it does not do robotic engineering, it however does artificial intelligence with philosophy which I am more than happy to study. Could I apply to that Uni as well or will trying to make my personal statement be between robotics and an AI degree not work/allowed.

Other than these three or two London unis, what other Unis are good for robotics and I should apply for.

I am predicted 2 As and 1 A*. I study maths, further maths, and computer science and of course am in Yr13.

Lastly anyone with experience doing robotics degree/AI how was it?

Appreciate any responses and if I am missing out info please let me know.

Hi @Marco36282628

Mechatronic engineering is a multidisciplinary field that combines mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering to design intelligent systems and devices, covering a broad range of applications such as automation, consumer electronics, and medical devices. In contrast, robotic engineering is a specialized branch focusing specifically on the design and development of robots, including their hardware, software, and autonomous functionalities, with applications like industrial robots, autonomous vehicles, and space exploration. Mechatronics offers a versatile foundation for various intelligent systems, while robotics dives deeper into robotics-specific challenges like perception and motion planning.
