Head prefect election advice please help

Hi!
So my school has elections for the head prefect team tomorrow. Everyone in my year votes for a handful of people they’d like to be head prefects, there are no nominees or anything, they can vote for anyone in the year. I’ve always wanted to do it, but I’m not sure I’m going to be able to get enough votes on my own and I’m not particularly popular or anything. Does anyone have any last minute advice on how I could get some votes? Thank you!!

Yes, yes, yes!!!
Oh my goodness I would loveee to help.

I completely get it because I used to be the same in primary school but now I've been elected for class rep 4 years in a row and have absolutely no idea how I changed so quick but I'll help as much as I possibly can!

Firstly, in your speech (if you do one) don't forget to mention how you're kind and passionate about what you want to happen - people will remember you and it's helpful to reemphasise how you're perfect for the role.
Be confident in yourself!!! the first time i went for something like this i was an absolute shambles and didn't get anywhere with it so just try to be as confident as you can but not overconfident because as cliché as it is, the more you believe in yourself, you genuinely can get anywhere.
During the elections, try to be calm and collected but also be (very) kind and genuine towards people It's also helpful if you're just a nice person in general but also during the voting period people will remember how you helped them or were just happy and smiley! Don't think of it too much like an act or someone you have to be. You don't have to be popular but put yourself out there (if you're comfortable to) like join a club or hang out with some new people and regardless of whether you're trying to do it for the votes or not, you'll just get to know new people and have some fun with others. i think mostly, it's not a competition, try to look on the bright side if you do not get in - i didn't get into my student rep team this year, but the more i try to get involved as much as i can, i seem like a good candidate the next run and also i have more time to do schoolwork which is getting quite heavy atm!

i hope that helped a little and wasn't too patronising (i promise i wasn't trying to be!) but let me know how it goes

Hello.

That can be daunting but dont allow it to stop you. In addition to the excellent advice from nisha, i would add that you should talk about things that are relevant to your school such as working to improve mental health support, more breaks and better interaction between year groups.

Also, go to your school mates and “campaign” by speaking to them about the role and how much you would love to do it.

Good luck
