Ineffective revsion year 13

Does anyone else feel like there revsion isn’t paying off. I’ve tried active recall and I feel like in a way my revsion is useless. Even tho right now I’m getting Bs in my subject compared to last year getting Es I feel like when I revise it’s not sticking in my head or I’m always worried about forgetting year 12 topics and right now In Chem we are doing optical and stereo isomers even tho the I’ve done AS level isomers so many times I couldn’t remember anything and that’s worrying because most of the content builds of year 12. I’m stuck in a cycle where I’m always confused if I should I revise year 12 content or year 13. I do active recall but I can’t just be doing year 12 all the time. Any advice appreciated

Honestly, I feel the same sometimes (I’m in Year 13). But when you think about it, most topics you learn in Year 13 build up from topics in year 12, so why not consolidate year 12 at the same time? For example, isomers, if you do some past paper questions for example from PMT you’ll find some year 12 content in there as well as year 13, so this will force your brain to recap some year 12 knowledge. Maybe re-read your notes or create mindmaps/one page sheets about year 12 topics which should help as a quick reference.

I did A-Level chemistry last year and found that the best way to revise it was to just attempt all the past exam questions I could find for it. Once you have finished all the content, if you work through past papers you will naturally find your self recovering over year 12 content anyway without needing to focus extra time on it. I would also say that for chemistry the majority of the marks in an a-level paper are from year 13 content, so I would suggest focusing on revising those topics in particular.
I also wouldn't really worry too much about forgetting topics. If you understood them well the first time then it should not take too long to remind yourself.
