applying to slightly diff courses with the same personal statement

for 4 out of the 5 unis i wanna apply to i want to study criminology and criminal psychology, so i mention criminal psychology several times in my personal statement, but for the 5th the course i’d be applying for is criminology and criminal justice.

do i need to change my personal statement to made it more criminology oriented or will it be fine to just leave it as it is?

Hey, I'm not sure how useful this will be but sometimes the universities do have an FAQ on their website answering these sorts of questions. I'm applying for straight maths at all of my universities except for Warwick where I applied for maths and stats so my personal statement is only about maths but on their website it said that they do recognise some applicants may be applying for straight maths at other universities so all they're looking for is mathematical interest and I did end up getting an offer from them so I think it'd definitely be worthwhile just to check if the universities you're looking to apply for have anything like that on their websites. Out of curiosity which university are you applying to for criminology and criminal justice? I know some universities like LSE are really picky about personal statements so including things from both aspects of the course if its a joint honours is a must.

Hi @phoenixx06,

Given you need to use the same statement for all 5 applications, would reconmend adjusting your personal statement to have a wider overall focus on crimonology rather than concentrating of criminal psychology. The means that you ensure your 5th university choice does not dismiss your personal statement as you have not spoken about the course you have applied to. While it may mean some more work, it is a safer option for you - particaularly if that option is your insurance choice. That being said, you can and should still use exapmples based on criminal psychology to show how intersetd you are about criminology as that is what univeristies are looking for in a personal statement.

I wish you the best of luck with your application

please don't adjust your PS to meet the requirements of 1/5 choices as suggested above.

Contact that university and ask if it's likely to be a problem.
Does the 5th university course include criminal psychology as any module options/content within their degree?
