transferring unis and student finance

Im dropping out of my uni to start a similar course with the Open University in February. Im receiving student finance already and obviously have a uni room to pay for but I know you can still receive a maintenance loan with the open uni. I'm just wondering if I need to reapply for student finance as my new course doesn't start until February and is covered usually with a part time tuition fee loan or just inform SFE of the change as there is an option to do that where you fill out a form on the website. I have filled out the form and sent it off, will this work or will they stop my payments when I unenrol from my current uni even tho I have completed enrolment with the open university. really worried about this as I cannot afford to pay for uni room myself - I am going to try and end my tenancy and find a replacement but if I can't I obviously still have to pay.
You can only receive a maintenance loan for distance learning if you can provide evidence that you're unable to attend an in-person course due to a disability.

If you're relying on a maintenance loan to cover your accommodation then you need to be 100% sure that you will receive this if you switch to OU.

You might be better off waiting to switch to OU in september ( and if you can complete your first year or even part of it then OU will usually count those modules towards your OU degree and if you stay engaged and enrolled on your current course then you'll be funded for the whole year) - in-year switches for finance can be really difficult particularly switching from FT in person to PT distance learning.

Hi there, I do see you've been responded to below. As PQ advised, for maintenance loan, are you eligible for this if you study at the OU? As the funding is only available to students studying distance learning due to a disability that physically prevents them from attending a course and evidence would be required. Thanks, Jason
