2rd Year accommodation in Uni Halls

My university has second halls, and I booked them. I wanted to live with a friend elsewhere, but a friend dropped me out of the place we were going to live. This made me doubt if I should live outside of university halls, so I put in for second halls, and I'm not 100% sure if I am generated for second-year halls. On my university hall's site, it says my offer has been accepted, so I assume so.

The main thing right now is, does living in halls for your second year limit your uni experience? I'm worried that if I lived in halls for my second year ,I would struggle much more trying to get a third place as my friend would already have one and the social side too.. I get worried over simple things like this coursework and exam stress, which I can handle, but the living area is making me worried. Am I right to be worried?

When I accepted the offer for 2nd year it said by legal contract, which I partly read. If I decide later this year to live with friends instead do you think I can cancel the room or would I have to live there for 2nd year?

Hi @GoldenHeart ,

Feeling anxious about housing decisions is normal, especially in the second year when you’ve made friends and know you can arrange to live with them. Living in university halls for your second year does not limit your university experience, If you can sort it out and book with friends, it’s quite an enjoyable experience as you already know each other. Also, many students find it convenient and socially engaging, as halls often host events and provide a community atmosphere. Lastly, consider that off-campus accommodation may be more expensive than on-campus accommodation. Regarding your contract, if you decide to cancel, check the terms of your contract to see if cancellation is possible. Contact your university’s accommodation office and ask them for information

Hope this helps,
Mercy
