Imperial aeronautical and design engineering

Hi guys I’m applying for design engineering and aeronautical engineering for 2025 entry.
My predicted grades are 2A*and 2A (math, dt, fm, physics respectively). I think my personal statement is pretty good but I completely bombed (did really really badly) the ESAT, I’m not an early applicant and I applied 2 weeks after the Oxbridge cut off line. I have not heard from imperial college at all about either of the subjects I applied since the initial acknowledgment of receiving my application.
I’ve lost all hope because I don’t think I’m going to get past the first stage for aero engineering. Did anyone else get interviews already to design /aero engineering?

I've got my aero invitation on 14th and will do it on 27th. I think you don't have to be anxious about it, and because the number of applicants this year is very large, maybe they have not went through your application yet. BTW I sent UCAS on 10.3

I think they do it in batches, so if you applied after the Oxbridge deadline, you'd get lumped in with the second batch later on. I have an interview for aero, but I applied before the 15th of october and sat the esat in the first sitting

I see, any ideas on when the next batch will be released? I will also be quite surprised if I hear from imperial before any of my insurances……

Hi, my son was interviewed for Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial this week - he was an early applicant (also applied for Cambridge Engineering). He had good but not amazing ESAT scores, good GCSEs (99999998888 ). He said the interview went OK, but unlikely to hear on offers for a few weeks. Good luck!

Hi, I hope your son found the interview good, out of curiosity, can I know a rough range of what your son got for ESAT? I am currently comparing my scores against everyone else in a similar field and seeing if I still stand a chance

I think you can get an interview invite in February. The next ESAT is on 7th Jan, and they will receive all UCAS applications by 30th Jan, cause some people can at first do ESAT, and then send their UCAS. So I think you will hear back from them in February

Just got an interview for design engineering in about a weeks time, absolutely bombed the ESAT aswell but I think I got an interview because I'm a contextual student.

Sorry to hear that, I'm sure you will thrive in any University you decide to go to. 🙂 Just out of curiousity, around when were you rejected as I wasn't aware Imperial already sent out rejections? What course was it for?

I think they reject in batches - heard back in mid Dec

That is disappointing. I thought they interview everyone before they started rejecting. Did they give you feedback on the rejection? So your interview was early December and they rejected you soon after? I heard is around 700 applications for 100 places and only around 300 get interviewed

I realised your son applied for Aeronautical engineering not Design Engineering. I imagine that is even more competitive. Best of luck on getting a good offer; he did extremely well in the ESACT and should be proud. IC and Cambridge are so difficult to get in.
