Advice on transferring course

Hey so I thought I’d put a little post to ask some questions about my decision. I’ll try and not keep this too long

Basically long story short I want to stop doing my course. I have spoken to my uni regarding a leave of absence which I am currently on. I am a third year nursing student (and I know what people may be thinking). Trust me I get it I’m in my final year however my passion just isn’t there anymore and I’ve been putting myself under so much stress over the last few months to the point where I just thought I no longer want to do this.

I went into uni and filled in the form to allow me a leave of absence for the time being as I was advised to not drop out straight away (which I understand) however I have a plan now. I want to go back to education and study a totally different subject (business). I was planning to apply to a few colleges around January time when the applications for August/September open up. I want to try a year or 2 for college first at least instead of jumping straight to uni just to see how I get on.

My question is is this still possible to do whilst on the “absence of leave”? Tbh I am considering just dropping out soon because I know what I want. It’s not something I even thought to bring up before but I’m just unsure as to if I’d be allowed to do this. Obviously if I was offered a place at college I would be taking it. I’m just unsure if these places would look down on me for doing what I’m doing. I’m likely overthinking this to the max but I just wanted to get some advice. Anyone else here been in the same or similar situation?

Thanks
exactly what sort of course were you thinking of taking at college?

Well the course I’ve been looking at specifically is a HNC in Business with Enterprise

You would normally only be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan towards tuition fees for an HNC as it falls under FE funding and not HE.

Are you eligible for an early exit award from your current degree? Assuming you've completed 2 years then you'd normally be awarded a DipHE (equivalent to an HND) which would prevent you from getting funding for HE study for a CertHE or DipHE or FdA/FdSc

You might be better off looking for part time courses and sign up for a full BA/BSc part time. That would maximise your chances of retaining funding (even if you ended up leaving the course early).
