Currently studying in Australia coming back to UK when graduated

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to ask for some advice about Universal Credit, please. I am currently studying in Australia full time and was wondering when I come back to the UK after graduating in three years, will I be able to get universal credit for some help when I get back. The reason I went to Australia was to study. I tried researching on the internet about the rules but to no prevail.

Thanks in advance

Had a look at the rules, Gov.uk says you can't apply for universal credit while you're still abroad, so you'll need to apply when you're actually in the UK. Citizens advice also say you need to show you've been resident in the UK for 1-3 months when you apply for benefits if you've been away from the UK for more than 2-3 years.

You might be able to show residency if for example you kept your UK bank account, but the citizens advice link gives more information, hope this helps!
