Sitting a level fm in a gap year

Did anyone sit a level further maths in a gap year? I'm really passionate about maths and I've wanted to do it since year 10 , however due to a really bad teacher and circumstances I had to drop it at the start of year 12. I don't need further maths for any courses I may be applying to, it just gives me an extra qualification. Would sitting it in a gap year be more beneficial than sitting it alongside my other subjects? Does anyone who has done this have any advice?
Hi there,

sorry to hear you hard about experience with this at A level, I didn't sit the further maths exam during gap year but I did set it with my other a level exams in year 13. It can indeed be a useful qualification however I would really look at the courses you want to apply for and whether or not you think you'd need it because if they're not asking for it for you to get into university I would only take the exam if you really really love it because after you get your degree most employers will look at your degree qualification rather than your A levels.

You might think that for your course it would be beneficial even if they've not requested it - for example I found it really helped me with first year maths in mechanical engineering however my course makes he didn't take a level maths and we're on the same course as me found that semester very doable also, as I essentially could skip the module but the lecturers still treated the majority of students with the assumption they hadn't taken it as it hadn't been requested so if you didn't take it you definitely wouldn't be at a disadvantage.

Just some food for thought hope it helps
