Advice with uni choices

Hi so I have 3 options out of 5 so far that being Uni of Liverpool, Loughborough and Uni of Huddersfield and I’m stuck for 2 other options.

I am looking to do a business management course with marketing if they offer if not then management is fine. I’m also wanting to study a language on the side (if the uni offers it from beginner, which narrows down my options quite a bit).

I’m predicted AAB (A in Bussines, A in English language and a B in Psychology). I’m also doing an epq that’s business related and I’m aiming for an A (my teacher has put a prediction of A on my ucas application).

I’m also debating on whether to add Exeter as an option (I want to get out of Devon mostly) but I know it’s such a top rated uni and I also completed Exeter scholars which would give me an offer of BCC or BBC I can’t remember. Also for Loughborough i don’t think I’d receive and offer despite meeting the maths and English gcse requirements and a level, they want a total of 5 GCSE’s grade 6+ and I have 4 and even when emailing them they said they wouldn’t consider but my school are advising me to apply anyways as I’m eligible for contextual offers and the personal circumstances might change their opinion.

Anyways I would love if anyone had any advice or even uni recommendations as I’m hoping to send my application off before December. Thanks

You don't have to add all five choices now. Submit your application with three and then take your time to research and add the other two choices by the January deadline.

If you dont meet the stated GCSE requirements, its really not worth applying - they are definite requirements not 'nice to have', and 'contextual' etc will not change that. Ignore your school - if a Uni says they wont consider you, they actually mean that.

Make sure that all your choices have a placement year or optional work experience - this will make a big difference to your graduate CV.

Hi @shanaeg23

Glad to hear we're one of your options! Is there anything specific you'd like to know about Huddersfield?

I can give you a bit of information about us and the course you're interested in below:

A couple bits about the Uni:

Our lecturers are among the most qualified in England, ranking in the top three for how many of them hold doctorates, while also being joint first in the country for winning National Teaching Fellowships

We have a ten-point plan for the planet - starting with planting one tree for every student who enrols with us

Huddersfield is one of the most affordable places you can live and based on student data, we have the second best-priced rent in all of the UK

The course you are interested in:

The course you are wanting to study sits within our faculty of Business - which recently won Business School of the Year

In this school alongside our lecturers we also have staff practitioners - who don't just teach here, they work in industry and we have fantastic links to the industry

I think you'd be very interested in our Business and Digital Marketing Management BA(Hons) course - which has been redeveloped for 2025, we are constantly reviewing our modules and content to ensure they are fit for industry

We also put a strong emphasis on placements too for you to build and continue your experiences in Business

Hope above was helpful and if you have any direct questions, please reply below and I'll try my best to answer all of them!

Many thanks,
Lewis

Yeah there’s a couple questions that I didn’t get enough time to ask at the open day on Saturday.

1.

The talk about the business school said that previous students had done their placement abroad and I just wanted to ask if this is still possible and if so how does the government tuitions and maintenance loan work as I’m guessing it wouldn’t be considered as a study abroad.

2.

What do the triple accreditations mean and do they look better to an employer?

3.

Is there any chances of volunteering with the unis sports teams (more specifically in the marketing aspect).

4.

When I asked about the languages despite it still saying on the website you guys offer languages from beginner etc, when I asked the student help desk (I think it was that) they weren’t very sure on what I meant or if it is still ongoing.

Thank you.

Hello there!
If you're interested in pursuing a Business Management course with a focus on marketing, I highly recommend considering Coventry University. As a final-year International Business Management student there, I’ve found that the university offers excellent opportunities for students. They provide a strong business management program with the flexibility to tailor your studies toward marketing through elective modules, even if it’s not explicitly listed as a combined course.
Moreover, Coventry University offers language options for beginners as part of many degree programs, allowing you to study a language alongside your business studies, which could be a great match for your goals. The university is known for its supportive environment and practical approach, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and real-world experience.

The International Business Management and related courses (like Marketing or Management) at Coventry University are well-regarded, and they also provide opportunities for placements and exchange semesters, which would be valuable for your career development.

For more information on specific programs and language options, you can explore the Coventry University website directly:
https://www.coventry.ac.uk

Business Management course: https://www.coventry.ac.uk/course-structure/ug/fbl/business-management-ba-hons/?term=2025-26

I hope that helps! Good luck!

I thought I’d let you know that I got all 5 offers including Loughborough as I still decided to apply as I couldn’t think of another filler
