I'm pretty sure theres a geog IA thread around here if you looked.

Anyway I recommend doing something from your core topic if you're desperate. Population is really easy.

Our class did our geo IAs on the same topic and our teacher decided for us?

Could you make some suggestions about how to do it on population? Our teacher says it would be best if we collected primary data...

Well you can collect data for ppl's age (systematically) if you wana do it on aging population, then compare it with official (govt) census data like 10 years ago, to see if it fits your hypothesis that there is an aging population in the area/city.

But i recommend you to do ur IA on physical geography (like rivers), you can more things to write.

Well, depends on whether you want to do a field report or research report. I did SL and only had 1500 words, so I opted for research.

You could do fertility, rate of population growth blahblahblah. Data can be obtained from your census board. Globalization is pretty popular as well.

Has anyone got a Geography IA regarding "the impact of tourism on economy, society and environment for a coastal area"? I really have no idea how to do that, pls get me a sample essay or reference! Many thx!

My Geo IA was on 'Identifying the Central business district of a city.' You can collect primary data on land use, no. of tourists, vehicle count, building size and many other variables.

This is almost exactly what I did, found it really interesting and (apparently) got a decent grade for it.

I am the only student in my Geo class which is very unfortunate when having to do a IA like this. But in the end I don't mind because I turn out to be a really bad control freak...

My topic was:
"How does seasonal shopping effect the sphere of influence of Raalte?"
Raalte being an averaged sized rural town in the Netherlands and the 'seasonal shopping' was due to Christmas.

I made a questionnaire which was filled out by pedestrians at the market square in the town - before Christmas and after Christmas (asking their age/origin/travel time/transportation/why they were in town/whether they came to Raalte often)
From the different answers I drew conclusions and in the end used the breaking point theory to calculate the radius of the sphere of influence before Christmas and after Christmas.

Naturally the 'seasonal shopping' did effect the sphere of influence of the town - it increased.

the same here but i think it's only for HL because there is fieldwork and the teacher cannot supervise 20 fieldworks at the same time.

heeeey, does anyone know the answer to this question:

for the word limit, if you are over the word limit for one section (as stated on the assessment criteria) but the whole IA is under the 2500 word limit for HL is this okay? or do you need to be under each word limit for each section?!

would appreciate quick response as mine is due tomorrow! (woke up in the middle of the night to this horrid thought!)
