OCR A Bio - i dont know what im doing wrong

As the title says im currently a yr 12 student studying a level bio and I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. I want to pursue medicine hence I need to aim for an A in every topic test.
Hwvr, at the beginning of the yr it started out not awful I was getting Bs and one C (I'm ashamed)
But I got my test back today and I got a D
I was so confused I loved and was confident w/ the topic of the exam (biological membranes) and to prepare did all the pmt past paper question and made sure I understood the topic
But idk what I'm doing wrong so far I haven't even been able to achieve and A in bio even though I have for chem and maths.
I get all the content in class and I do past paper questions but Idk why I keep on constantly getting bad grades.
If anyone can offer any help or advice it would be MUCH appreciated as there's no way I even have a chance of getting predicted an A* with these grades
Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Go and see the relevant teacher and ask for feedback, and literally 'what did I do wrong, and how can I fix it'.
Its what they are there for - they wont mind

hihi I have a few things to ask:

what do your teachers use for the end of topic tests? I was in your position but for chemistry, I would do really well with PMT questions, but for end of topic tests my teachers used something called 'kerboodle' instead, the mark scheme on kerboodle is slightly different and includes things the normal markschemes wouldn't so I tend to do a LOT worse.

when you go through PMT questions, are you just going through it for the sake of it, or are you actually going through it? be harsh on yourself especially with key terms etc.

all in all tbh just tell your teacher this, maybe show your teacher your PMT questions in comparison to the end of topic test and see if your teacher can spot anything

it's only year 12 and the start of year 12 you will get those A's don't worry!!!

Thank you so much for your reply, I think my teachers make the tests themselves and take questions from different places I've seen 2 or 3 questions from PMT in my topic tests but the rest are unfamiliar. thanks for the info on kerboodle ill definitely check that out
