Noise upstairs in student accom

Hey everyone, pretty much every night when I’m trying to go to sleep, the room above me keeps making fairly loud banging/thumping noises that literally goes on for hours. Most nights it normally stops at 12:40 but it happens every single night pretty much. Because of this, I’m not getting as much sleep as I would like and I’m falling asleep in lectures because I’m pretty tired. I sleep with two fans on and ear buds in and I can still hear it. I’ve gotten in contact with the accommodation services and they have sent the whole flat above an email but that one room in specific is the only one making the noise and they keep making it. I’ve asked accommodation to now email that one person but they haven’t responded yet. I was wondering if anyone had an advice on how to deal with the noise and sleep through it, such as certain ear buds to buy or anything I can do to dampen the noise? Furthermore, I was wondering who I could potentially get them to stop the noise without annoying them because I get it’s uni and people want to have fun, but I literally have no idea what you could be doing alone in your room that makes the occasional thump every minute for hours. Many thanks for any help
I used to wear disposable foam ear plugs (not anymore as I don't need to block noise anymore). They were effective. I'd make sure your morning alarm is loud enough to hear if you wear the ear plugs in bed.
